@@ Originally it was called Boy's Festival and was for celebrating boys' growing up, but now it has become a day to celebrate children in general. On this day, families with boys set out dolls for the Boy's Festival, patterned after warriors and heroes ("Kintaroh"&"Momotarou", legendary heroes) , and fly carp streamers named "Koi-nobori". Carp has the strength to even swim up waterfalls and have long been taken as symbols of success in life.

Flying Carp Streamers are one of the traditional events on "Children's Day" in Japan. On this day parents who have a newborn baby boy celebrate their son's birth by flagging carp streamers in the sky. In this season, you can see carp streamers flying in the sky here and there.
In the Chinese legend, a carp which could successfully run up against a waterfall becomes a dragon . In this reason, the carp is thought to be a symbol of success and people in Japan began to make Carp Streamers to wish their child's future success.
