Clay Bells of this month@February 2003

If you visit Kyoto or Nara on Japan, you can see many temples or shrines. Temples are places to worship Buddha, and shrines are places to worship Shinto gods. Shinto is Japanese traditional religion.
In this month I'll take up a festival praying for a good harvest of rice crop as a theme. This festival is held at Asukani-imasu Jinjya shrine, and it's named Onda-matsuri.@"Onda" meens a precious rice field and "Matsuri" meens a festival.
Especially the Onda-matsuri at Asukani-imasu Jinjya shrine is known as an extraordinary or a sexual festival. During the festival, a skit praying for a good harvest is performed with sexual humor. The most appealing property of this skit is a model of penis. It's used as a symbol of large yield of crop.
